GRASS Short Course 2003/Install notes session 6
A bit more installation work is needed for this challenging session.
Check out for related RPM packages for your
Linux distribution or FINK package
for Mac OSX users. In detail we need
Related to R-stats: We need some standard extra R
packages: GRASS, akima, sgeostat, grid, lattice.
Installation is easy:
- R-stats installed, and
- unixODBC interface (see below)
Now your computer is prepared for lecture 6.
- become 'root' user
- if needed, set HTTP Proxy, for example:
- Now start 'R'. To install the required standard libraries, run inside R
(with internet connection established):
- To verify the successfull installation of the
GRASS/R interface, run a simple example:
- Rdbi: Then we need the new Rdbi interface to connect R and PostgreSQL.
Since 10/2003 there is a new Rdbi/PostgreSQL interface for R-stats,
available from the 'BioConductor' project (but not the old SourceForge version!):
Hopefully soon the BioConductor version contains our fixes (should be Rdbi 1.0.2 or later)...
Interface installation (shell terminal):
R CMD INSTALL Rdbi_1.0.1b.tar.gz
R CMD INSTALL RdbiPgSQL_1.0.1b.tar.gz
Note: The RODBC interface in an alternative, but the data transfer is rather slow.
